TESTIMONIALS
"Working with Xavier is always a delightfully rewarding and productive experience.
On the creative front he is talented, inventive, and imaginative. On the professional
front he is industrious, conscientious and highly personable. These virtues justly
go into making him a highly sought after film editor. In short, he is highly recommended." - Jon East, Director - Killing Eve.
"Xavier Russell is one of the finest editors I have worked with in my 40-odd years
as a director- flexible but decisive, instinctive but extremely skilful. He cut two
episodes of Series: 2 of Grantchester for me and - there is no higher praise a
director can give - he made me look good. He's a thoughtful listener and he
never imposes his point of view; let's try it, is his watchword -and he does, quickly and positively. He's bracingly objective, good company - and tactful
with execs. What more does one need? I have no hesitation in recommending
him to anyone." Edward Bennett, Director - Grantchester.
"I have recently had the pleasure of working with Xavier on a double episode of Dr Who. Xavier's instincts during the assembly were spot on meaning we had a very
effective and streamlined fine cut period. Xavier worked hard and diligently to meet all our screening deadlines, and each of these screenings was met with enthusiasm and approval by the producers and execs. Overall a very smooth and positive experience. As well as being a talented and experienced editor Xavier was a pleasure to spend time with in the edit room and I would happily work with him again in the future." - Daniel Nettheim, Director - Dr Who.
"I have worked with Xavier on several occasions. I would have worked with him more but he's always busy! His approach to editing involves knowing when not to cut as much as when to cut. In short he has taste. He is a great collaborator, very experienced, always interested in the nuance of performance and able to discover/create a 'style' in the way the cut evolves. If there is humour to be had he'll find it. He is also lightning fast on the Avid." - Kenny Glenaan, Director - Paranoid.
"I had the pleasure of working with Xavier as an editor on 'Dickensian' for BBC1. It was 4x30' episodes involving vital emotional character arcs and action set pieces. Xavier proved more than the correct choice for the job. It was very clear to me that Xavier understood exactly what we were trying to achieve with the series and the complex stories to tell. He embraced the technical challenges, the vfx and music spotting with great enthusiasm and commitment. He's fast on the Avid and has a great sense of humour. I would thoroughly recommend working with him." - Philippa Langdale, Director- Dickensian.
"Xavier has cut four dramas which I have directed over the last twelve years.
'Secret Smile' for ITV in 2005. 'Zen' for Left Bank/BBC in 2011. 'The Suspicions Of Mr Whicher' for Hat Trick/ITV in 2012 and 'Killing Jesus' for Ridley Scott Associates/National Geographic in 2015. Xavier is a very experienced and accomplished editor and great fun to work with." Director - Chris Menaul.
